Getting Started
This is my first ever writing post. My 10th grade Creative Writing Teacher once told me that I should have given English and writing a go as my undergrad degree as I had a really good voice. Let’s see how good that voice really is.
Instead, I went with Hospitality, Restaurant, and Tourism Management with an emphasis on Event Planning. I always love telling people how I’m actually still doing what I went to school for…that’s pretty good!
Anyway, the way I got into event planning is relatively simple. First, I’m the Type A, eldest daughter, eldest grandchild (both sides), and planned every event growing up and Mom was the recipient. But then, the real reason, I read a book by my romance queen girl Nora Roberts.

The Bride Quartet…I found this series early on in college when I was going through my Nora phase. It covers a circle of the typical troupes before I even knew what troupes meant! Vision in White is second chance romance with our favorite photographer, Bed of Roses is friends to lovers with the lovely florist, Savor the Moment (my personal fave…which is it’s usually the 3rd book in the series. hmm) is the baker who finally gets to be with her best friend’s brother who she’s had feelings for what feels like forever. And finally, Happy ever After which features the fierce and organized planner.
The four of them live on a plot of land that their wedding venue sits on, and they have girls’ nights, drop-ins, meetings, and bestie moments. All of that was my DREAM. If real estate wasn’t so expensive, I’d still be looking to do that…however, I’m going to settle (not really though) and be the planner hbic that I am and help anyone who may need it!
So, what can you expect from this little “Garden” I’m growing?
I am hoping to share my experiences both as a growing business owner but also as a planner. Share my event highlights, what’s been working and what hasn’t and my experiences.
Plan to see writings about my weddings, my conferences, any showers or parties I help host, and more! I’ll also go over the vendors that exceed my expectations and why you might want to check them out as a possibility for your next event. And just other things I’m thinking about when it comes to all thing’s events.
In the meantime, please enjoy this picture of me with my FAVORITE bridesmaid makeup I’ve ever had, drinking champagne straight from the bottle after a stressful morning (I’ll write about that one sometime), and what’s been my personal Instagram profile pic since it was downloaded.

I’m going to go re-read those books now that they’re staring at me from the bottom of my bookshelf.
